Hello Aniket !!
Sadly but true, the engine of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 feels bit underpowered when driving with the AC on, this problem is there in many cars of the Maruti Suzuki, but it is more in the Alto 800, slow driving in the city is quite acceptable, but when driving on the highways, we feel the car is underpowered. And if the cabin is full, then it is even more. It is not at all suitable for the hill drive. Overall for this price range this could be somehow overlooked. The Alto 800 comes in 2 variants petrol and CNG. It is powered by an engine which displaces 796 cc, and the engine churns out maximum power output of 48 bhp at 6000 RPM, it has a seating capacity of 5 persons.

Some users do complain that their vehicle feels underpowered specially when they ride through highways with full capacity. Actually, if you carefully note the engine configuration of Alto 800 then you will find that it has F8D type engine with 3 cylinders and 12 valves per cylinder along with 32 Bit Computer engine control and swept volume of 796 cc cc. The maximum power and maximum torque of Alto 800 are respectively 48 PS @ 6000 rpm and 69 Nm @ 3500 rpm. Thus, as the overall engine configuration of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is comparatively lesser than its immediately upgraded model K 10 and other variants of Maruti Suzuki like Wagnor, Ertiga, Celerio, etc. so users might get this feeling that their vehicle is a but underpowered. However, if you consider price range of Alto 800 with that of other cars of Maruti Suzuki then you do have to appreciate that the car is a really very economical one that comes packed with comparatively noteworthy features and specifications.
Maruti Suzuki chose to shut down production of its two highest selling models and combine their best features into the new Alto 800 model. On a casual inspection, the engine of the Alto 800 can feel a bit underpowered as compared to many other cars available in the market, but the truth is at the price in which the Alto 800 comes at, it is one of the strongest cars out there. It might not deliver constant top speeds like 120-140kmph like other expensive cars, but it is stable and reliable no matter what purpose one chooses the car for.
