Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) Description
Maruti Suzuki Alto has been very popular in India since its introduction in 2000. The car also has a major contribution in the total sales of the company. India’s largest car maker is a master in offering more for less, as so evident from a majority of its products. The new Alto K10 has been developed primarily for city driving and serves the purpose decently. Now the competition in the small car segment has become fierce and the newer products, like Kwid 1.0, Hyundai Eon, etc., are fighting for the same piece of cake.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) ExteriorMaruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) is based on Alto 800; however, there's a lot that has improved. In terms of design and styling, the car is definitely a step ahead of its previous models. The headlamps look beautiful with their curves and are quite striking. The company logo is fitted in the center of the grille and enhances its appeal, and the redesigned front bumper channels air better. The rear, again, doesn’t get any unnecessary creases and the design looks quite classy with stylish tail lamps.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) InteriorThe interiors look fresh and are not inspired with its current siblings in the lineup. The cabin appears more airy than before. There, clearly, is better use of materials and the overall finish has improved too. On the inside, the dashboard for the new Alto K10 is quite different from the earlier one, and it is more balanced and pleasing to look at. The storage spaces given inside the cabin are also good enough. The 3-spoke steering feels nice to hold. The seats offer good support and are well cushioned. Space at the rear isn’t that great but the automaker has freed up some legroom by scooping out the back rests of the front seats. AC works nicely without any concerns. Boot is suitable for carrying small to medium-sized bags only. The instrument cluster is simple to read and offers basic information, such as gear indicator, trip meter and odometer.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) Engine & TransmissionThe Alto K10 LX (O) is powered by a K series 998 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which punches out 67 bhp of power at 6200 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. Mated to this engine is a 5-speed manual gearbox that offers smooth shifts and evenly spaced-out ratios.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) MileageIn terms of mileage, the Alto K10 LX (O) is frugal with an ARAI-certified mileage of 24 kmpl. The mileage in the real world conditions can be expected around 19-20 kmpl.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) Braking and SafetyAlto K10 is basic in terms of safety. The braking duty is done by discs at the front while the rear gets drum brakes. Braking performance is brisk and makes you feel confident with the ideal pedal bite. The LX (O) variant gets a driver side airbag as an option but misses out on ABS.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) Performance and HandlingThe car offers good maneuvering ability at low speeds and can zip around without much effort. It is a very practical car in city traffic conditions but is not meant for highway driving as the car is extremely light, which results in low high speed stability, and smaller tyres also give away traction rather quickly. At low speeds, the steering feels light and doesn’t weigh up well as the speed increases. NVH levels are good as long as you don’t get past the mid-range and there is much noise in the cabin near red line. Ride quality is quite good but the car does get unsettled on bad roads.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LX (O) VerdictThe car fares quite well in terms of performance and fuel efficiency but is known to be noisy when compared to the competition. The price is slightly cheaper than its immediate competitors and definitely a value-for-money offering in the segment.
