Maruti Suzuki Baleno 1.2 Alpha Description
Sitting at the top of the Baleno range, Alpha gets a string of eminent features missing in the rest of the line-up. The front profile features projector headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The front radiator grille and outside door handles are finished in chrome. While bumpers in the front/rear and outside rear view mirrors are painted in uniformity with the rest of the body. Outside rear view mirrors get power adjusting, folding functions along with mounted turn indicators. Full wheel caps are ditched for lustrous alloy wheels. Rear gets combination lamps featuring LED and sporty spoiler.
Maruti’s SmartPlay infotainment system is available exclusively on the Alpha variant. Besides, the cabin also gets a navigation system, voice command and Smartphone Connect/Apple CarPlay system. Rest of the features like the audio system with FM/MP3/CD player, Bluetooth, Aux-in, USB, steering mounted controls etc are also inset in the car. Positioned at the top, the Alpha trim is fully loaded with features like central locking, remote keyless entry, power windows in front/rear, driver side auto-up power window, tilt steering, adjustable headrests in front/rear, automatic air conditioner, 60:40 split seat in rear and accessory sockets in front and rear.
Under the engine hood is a Dual Jet Dual VVT 1.2 litre petrol engine which produces 83 bhp at 6000 RPM along with 115 Nm at 4000 RPM. The alpha variant is available in manual option only, a five-speed manual transmission is coupled to the petrol motor. The engine complies with BSVI emission norms.
Claimed fuel economy for the petrol version of Baleno is 21.4 kmpl.
Disc brakes are fitted in front and rear brakes are inset at rear providing stopping power to the respective axles. Anti-lock-braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution and dual front airbags are among the prominent safety features fitted in the vehicle. Other vital safety fitments aboard include reverse parking camera, reverse parking sensors, rear wiper and washer, rear defogger, are front seat belt force limiters, front seat pre-tensioners, driver side seat belt reminder, pinch guard power window, dual horn, headlamp levelling, dual horn, front fog lamps, auto-dimming inside rear view mirror and auto headlamps and anti-theft alarm.
