I am currently driving an automatic Maruti Celerio VXi. I wish to know that if the automatic transmision fails then can I use the manual gear shifts? The Maruti dealer did not have a specific answer for the same.

A car does not feature two transmission options. Celerio AMT is fitted with electrically controlled transmission therefore it has no clutch pedal, thus you drive the car like an automatic. You can’t change gearbox and drive in a manual mode in an automatic car. You can however replace the gearbox in itself to manual but that would cost you nearly as much as buying a new car would.
