The hybrid cars are just like other cars only difference is that apart from petrol or diesel engine they also have an electric motor to power the car. The batteries in modern hybrids are designed to last for at least 100,000 kms. Some might even make it to 150,000 or even more. But the batteries aren't immune to the laws of nature just like any other car part they can unexpectedly fail hence automakers provide lengthy warranties on them.

Talking about the disadvantages of hybrid cars, they are comparatively expensive than a regular petrol and diesel cars. Battery eats up the extra space in the car. Hybrid vehicles generally cost more to repair, and not all mechanics have the equipment and know-how to fix them properly. Most hybrids are built for economy, not for performance.
