I want to fit AC in my Maruti Suzuki Eeco, would it affect the engine performance?

Yes, using AC imposes a direct load on the engine, which in turn, increases fuel consumption because the AC pulls energy from car’s engine during operation hence it affects the engine performance. You might have noticed your car’s engine RPMs increasing at idle when the compressor kicks on. It does this to offset the power drawn by the air conditioning system. AC units can decrease the fuel economy of a vehicle up to 20% in hot weather. The a/c load depends on the vehicle’s interior size, the outdoor temperature and other operating conditions.
