I am planning to buy Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which version should I buy petrol or diesel, I would not use it more than 700 kms? Is there any performance difference between both versions? Which variant of petrol is better VXI or ZXI?

In my opinion for your driving need you should choose petrol version of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, diesel car would be better if your driving need is more than 1200 kms / month, since your monthly driving is not long here petrol car makes more sense. Diesel car definitely has advantage of low fuel cost and better mileage but when it comes to service and maintenance it will cost you more than petrol car and petrol cars usually are more responsive and fun to drive, causes less pollution, has lower NVH levels and resale value of a petrol cars is also higher than diesel ones.

As far as performance parameters are concerned petrol version of Ertiga is more powerful than diesel version, although diesel version is more fuel efficient and produce better torque but petrol version gives better acceleration and linear power delivery and maintenance cost is also lower than diesel version, NVH levels of petrol version is also comparatively better controlled.

There is no mechanical difference between VXI and ZXI variants both are powered by same 1373cc petrol engine, but ZXI variant has more features compare to VXI like: brake assist, keyless start, rear defogger, rear wiper, steering mounted controls, alloy wheels, reverse camera, height adjustable driver seat, 6 audio speakers compare to 4 of VXI, so price difference (around Rs. 70,000) is not only for alloy wheels but also include all these things.
