Maruti Suzuki has been testing its electric vehicles for quite some time in India. According to the rumours, the new EV will be based on the body type of the new generation Wagon R and is expected to come with HEARTECT platform which can be slightly modified to accommodate the batteries. The heavily camouflaged test has been spotted many times on the Indian roads. The Futuro-E should be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Futuro-E exteriors will feature the same tall boy design that we have seen on the Wagon R for years. At the front, we are expecting a split head lamp design with LED Daytime Running Lamps being placed above the headlight cluster. The fog lamps will be placed in the lower half of the bumper while there will be no radiator grille as the car does not need it. The side profile consists of alloy wheels derived from the Ignis while the charging port will be in the place of the fuel filler cap. The rear houses the vertically placed tail lights with a rear wiper. Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E interiors are inspired by the current generation of Wagon R and get the same steering wheel and AC vents. The dashboard layout consists of the newest generation of the SmartPlay Audio System, which will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car will also come with fully automatic climate control which is not available on the Wagon R. The EV will not come with an electric parking brake as it will continue to get a manual parking brake behind the gear lever. Braking duties will be done by disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear. Maruti Suzuki will also offer regenerative braking as it will help recover the lost energy while braking. Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E price is expected to be around Rs 10 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E range is expected to be around 180 km with fast charging capabilities, the battery should charge up to 80 percent within one hour.
