Which one to choose between Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and Mahindra Thar?

Mahindra Thar is an all new transformation of the old Mahindra Jeep which ruled the rural india for last 10 years or so. The new thar is built on the same platform but has decent changes keeping the same old spirit alive. The thar comes with a 2.5L diesel powered engine which gives out a whopping 105bhp power and 247Nm torque. far more than the gypsy. Seating wise also Thar has the upper hand, its seats are big and comfortable compared to gypsy whose prolonged use might give you spine injuries. Both these cars have their own cult following. Gypsy despite being a petrol car and no changes since an eternity still have a soft corner in people's heart. Thar whereas has built its fanbase solely on performance. So it is just your choice, performance or some genuine vintage stuff.

The external design and interior finish of both the vehicles are equally good and practical rather than being beautiful. Thar has a bigger engine that produces more power and more torque than that of Gypsy's. Better suspensions system enables Thar to be a more preferred offroader than Gypsy. The Maruti Gypsy is available in petrol engine only whereas the Mahindra Thar comes in Diesel engine only. Thar is more expensive than Gypsy but low on running cost owing to the diesel engine. So, if the running requirements are high, Mahindra Thar is definitely a better choice amongst the two.
