Overview

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Description

Maruti Suzuki is the leader in hatchback car segment; and in a country like India, the hatchback is a segment that dominates the whole car market. Despite of surviving in a dynamic environment, Maruti Suzuki managed to give a powerful 1.2-litre, 1197cc, K-12 series petrol version churns out a peak power of 83.8bhp at 6000rpm and a torque of 113Nm at 4500rpm to this budget hatchback. Ritz Vxi gives a tough competition to Indian customers’ all time favorite  -Hyundai i10.

  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Exterior

The front of Maruti Suzuki Ritz is inspired by Maruti Suzuki’s another hit 'Swift', but Ritz seems to be a bit bulkier than the Swift. Few more curves and cuts are introduced on Ritz. The Vxi version looks better than lower versions because of the introduction of fog lamps in it. The side seems sporty and the stylish wheel caps introduced by Maruti look cool. The body colored door handles and OVRMs mix with the overall beauty of this vehicle. However, the rear seems a bit ugly with that curved inward boot style. The stylish spoiler and bumper tried to compensate the looks, but couldn’t help that much.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Interior

Swift inspired interiors which have been given a sporty touch with the tachometer placed apart from main gauge displays, look alluring. Seats are comfortable which provide just the right amount of cushioning for those extra long trips. The cabin space is not compensated at all, but the boot seems to be suffered a bit instead. On the other hand, NVH level in the car seems to be very much controlled.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Engine & Transmission

Ritz is powered by a 1.2-litre, 1197cc, K-12 series petrol motor, which can churn out a peak power of 83.8bhp at 6000rpm and a max torque of 113Nm at 4500rpm. Petrol mills are generally disguised as costly on operation because of their non-friendly nature towards fuel, but to tackle this, Maruti Suzuki has installed an MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) supply system which ensures a better fuel efficiency. The VXi variant comes with 5-speed manual gearbox. The DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft) helps the engine produce higher torque and clear emission, making it a fuel-friendly vehicle and not that only reduces friction, but improves the engine’s life as well.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Mileage

Armed with the 1.2litre, k12 series petrol motor, Ritz VXi surprisingly can offer a mileage of 14.1kmpl in typical city driving, and 19.1kmpl on highways rides.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Braking and Safety

Obviously, with this much of power, this hatch requires an effective braking solution too, so that the driver happens to be in full control over his ride. The front brakes are ventilated disc which is supported by rear drum brakes. Advanced ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brake force distribution) brake assist is however not present in VXi, but still, this car manages to stop just in time. Immobilizer, iCATS, child lock, and central locking is preinstalled in the VXi variant, however, for more safety features like airbags, you have to invest some more.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Performance and Handling

The handling is a bit disappointing because of its tall-boy design. The car feels out of control beyond 120kmph. However, the best part about this car is that it doesn’t beg for power at any point of time. The rev-happy nature engine brings fun when it’s driven on highways. The 170mm of ground clearance is very impressive and helpful to tackle Indian road conditions. The suspension system is standard that many Maruti customers are familiar with, but it is proficient enough. The front and rear suspensions are McPherson strut with coil spring and torsion beam with coil spring respectively. The NVH levels are relatively lower than that of Maruti Suzuki Swift. The engine noise isn’t audible in the cabin, even with stereo down to zero volume and one can enjoy a peaceful journey.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi Verdict

Ritz VXi is a budget car and comes with a powerful engine. This car is amazing in terms of performance as well as fuel efficiency, and leads its segment. The only thing which is stopping it to be the new India’s favorite, is its looks. The rear looks are so ugly that the sporty spoiler and the new dynamic stylish bumper couldn’t compensate the looks.
