By: Rohan on 1 august 2014
Swift petrol version features 1197 cc VVT petrol engine delivering power of 87PS@6000RPM and Torque of 114NM@4000RPM. Multipoint fuel injection helps for excellent combustion quality making use of maximum calories of fuel to be converted to mechanical effeciency of engine. In diesel version it features 1248 cc engine delivering power of 75PS@4000RPM and Torque of 190NM@2000RPM. Though power seems to be normal, the best combination of good power and high torque output of 190NM can make every driving a pleasure expereince. Diesel version has maximum advantages but comes with a price tag of more than 1 to 1.2Lakh as compared to similar petrol variant. To select one, if overall usage is around 1500km and below then petrol version would be ideal. If it is higher than worth buying diesel version.

Maruti Swift petrol is powered by an 1197 CC engine that generates maximum power of 83 Bhp@6000 RPM and maximum torque of 114 Nm @4000 RPM whereas the Swift diesel has a 1248 CC diesel engine that generates maximum power of 74 Bhp @ 4000 RPM and maximum torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 RPM. If your running requirements are around 30-60 KMs a day then you should go for a petrol engine and if you drive more than 80 KMs a day than going for diesel engine can be justified.
