I bought a Maruti Swift VXi in July 2016 but now I doubt if I have made the correct choice. I have an average running of around 1500kms a month. I feel that the power output of VDi is more than what VXi offers and also feel the need to continuously change gears between 40kmph to 80kmph speed. What should I do?

Maruti Swift is a brilliant car and has proved itself time and again. You really don’t have to doubt your choice at all. Swift VXi has a power output of 83 bhp at 6000 rpm whereas the VDi variant has a power output of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm. The power output of VXi is quite apt for the car of this size, however in the VXi you might have to drive at a slightly higher RPM range.
As for gear changing, there shouldn’t be an issue because at these speed levels, you should be comfortable using the 4th gear. The vehicle should pick up from 40kmpg in 4th gear and take it to 80kmph in a matter of seconds without any gear changes. Basically, you need to get used to driving in the higher rpm range and once you get accustomed to that, you will be amazed with the performance as well as the power under the hood that Swift is capable of offering.
