Which is better among Wagon R Stingray and Renault Pulse?
By: Radhe Shyam on 16 september 2014
Renault pulse is actually a car in the higher price segment than Stingray but when two comparable models are looked at, we see that despite having a bigger engine of 1.2L and producing a good 74bhp and 104Nm torque the pulse is not getting the pulse of population to raise. It is spacious but not as Stingray, the features like ABS, airbags, infotainment luxuries are all absent in pulse. And when we talk about after sales service, it is Maruti suzuki's Forte but Renault is lagging far behind. The service is not even OK, and the engine is claimed to be so noisy and vibrates so much that it makes a headache to sit in the car. So things like these definately gives a one up to Stingray.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray is the better option over the Renault pulse if you go by the fuel economy and maintenance cost because Renault Pulse have slight expensive maintenance and low fuel economy as compared to Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray while safety systems are more advanced in Renault pulse. Maruti Suzuki tries to update Maruti Suzuki WagonR with lot of cosmetic changes but they final came out with weird profile while Renault Pulse have better looks and style as compared to Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray. Overall both Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray and Renault Pulse have their own distinct profiles.
Maruti's Wagon R Stingray is the facelift version of the tried and tested model of Maruti i.e. Wagon R whereas the Renault Pulse is also a makeover of Nissan Micra. Renault offers Pulse in both petrol and diesel options whereas Stingray is offered in petrol version only. Pulse is certainly bigger car than Stingray and thus, it offers lot more interior space. Puls has a bigger engine that produce more torque and more power but it will take more money to run as its mileage is lower than that of Stingray's. On safety front also, Pulse is ahead of Stingray. On the reliability and after sales service front, though, WagonR is way ahead of other cars like Pulse. The extra features and space in Pulse do command extra 1 Lakhs or so. Overall, WagonR Stingray is a value for money option whereas Pulse is more of a performance hatch.
Both, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray and Renault Pulse are very good cars in its segment. Wagon R Stingray is a mid segment hatchback while Renault Pulse is a super hatch. Renault Pulse is more powerful, its pick up and acceleration is better and its passenger cabin is more luxurious. While Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray has very fuel efficient engine and its maintenance cost is cheaper.

Why is Maruti not popularising the WagonR Stingray? I own this vehicle and can vouch for it but I have never seen an ad or even a poster in the dealerships for this vehicle. In fact Maruti sales executives discourage one to buy a Stingray. Why is that so?
