Maserati Quattroporte Overview

Having seen six generations, The Maserati Quattroporte has come a long way. It is a four door luxury saloon which can be a classy limousine one minute and can be a swooshing sports car the next. The eye-catching style of Maserati, combined with the engine of a sports car, makes it an incredibly fast, spacious and luxurious machine.

The exterior looks of Quattroporte host signature Maserati features like the aggressive looking front grille and sleek body work. The headlights are powered by LED daylights which make it recognizable the car even in foggy weather conditions. The vertical sweep of the light clusters blends smoothly into the car’s flanks. The twin steel oval tailpipes provide the edgy look to the rear of the car. The back features rectangular LED clustered tail lamps. The car looks extremely sophisticated yet has elements that add the sporty look and add to the overall beauty of Quattroporte.

Maserati Quattroporte Interior

The interiors of this saloon are more luxurious than ever before. The well-shaped and well cushioned seats are finished with high quality leather. The other parts of the car are designed with the elegant briarwood, Italian leather and chrome which is what we expect of a luxurious car like this. The interiors are comfortable and much refined. The new model has larger legroom and promises better comfort for rear seat passengers. The centre armrest features two cup holders and USB ports for mobile devices.
The dashboard is set out on three levels and has a broad centre section that adds a sense of space and lightness. The middle section has the Maserati Touch control touchscreen from where the infotainment and multimedia systems can be managed.

Maserati Quattroporte Engine & Transmission

This car carries a Ferrari twin-turbo charged 3.8-litre V8 engine which is smaller in size compared to the 4.7 litre V8 powering the older version. It also introduces a push-button feature called ICE (Increased control efficiency, for icy roads) which cuts over-boost and softens the gear change. All this helps in make this car a more fuel efficient version. The killer engine under its hood produces an impressive 523 horsepower at 6500 rpm and takes the car from zero to 6-mph in just 4.7 seconds. The top speed of the car is 191 mph.
The consumers can also opt for .3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine which produces around 404 hp and posts a top speed of 176 mph. It also comes in a 3 litre diesel version. The direct-injection engine is linked to a new ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift mode and brushed aluminium paddle shifters.

Maserati Quattroporte Mileage

The Quatrroporte’s 3.8 litre engine helps improve the fuel economy compared with the older version with 4.7 litre engine but with an official mileage of 23mpg it still bears the tag of an expensive-to-run car. The 3.0 litre engine manages 26mpg and the diesel version claims 45 mpg which is the most efficient of the lot.

Maserati Quattroporte Braking and Safety

Like the GranTurismo, Quattroporte also feature the Brembo braking system which optimise weight and ensure high performance even on difficult surface and tough circumstances. The brake force is electronically distributed over the four wheels which add to the stability of the car.
In terms of safety, the Quattroporte has tons of features that make it an extremely safe and reliable. It has 4-wheel ABS system with front impact, side impact and overhead airbags. It also has the standard features like traction and stability, tire pressure monitoring, anti- theft alarm and child seat anchors.

Maserati Quattroporte Performance and Handling

Though it is termed as a heavy car, the Quattroporte’s handling is quite impressive for its weight. It gives the performance of a light weight car through twists and turns and gives a breezy ride. The steering is precise and the body control gives the handling smoothness over high-speed corners and fast direction changes. The engine sounds quite heavy it is still better than the older V6 engine. The drive is effortlessly comfortable and the high performing engine gives immense speed which makes this car highly desirable.

What do we think about Maserati Quattroporte?

Like all other Maserati productions, the Quattroporte is also an extremely expensive car but the incredible performance and impeccable handling justify it. The long of standard equipment and extremely high quality interiors add to the luxury of the car. The diesel version helps in the economy section. All in all, Quattroporte is an amazing offering Maserati with a huge legacy. The improvements in the latest models it a worthy buy for those who love speed, luxury and opulence.

Maserati Quattroporte Competitors

The latest Maserati Quattroporte is larger in size than its predecessor which makes it land into the BMW 7-series, Mercedes S-class, Audi A8 category. Most of the competitors, first and foremost, are comfortable luxury cars but the Quattroporte seems like more of a sports car than a limousine.
While it make lack the high-tech levels of its German rivals but it makes up on that in terms of looks and style. The high quality interiors specially make it feel more special than any of its competitors.
