I have recently bought a 2009 Quattroporte S model it has some computer issues like engine warning lights keep coming on and engine rough at idle, are these common with 4.7 liter engines and can it cause major problems if not repaired properly?

"No these types of issues are not common with 4.7 liter engine. The engine warning light warns you that your engine function is impaired in some way. The most common causes of engine warning lights are: loose or damaged fuel cap, misfiring spark plugs, damaged or faulty oxygen sensor, impaired functionality of catalytic converter and problems with fuel pump. While your check-engine light could be indicating something as simple as a loose gas cap, it also could be an indicator of a failing computer sensor, spark plugs, ignition coils or other problems. Ignoring engine warning light can result in what should be a simple fix to an expensive repair. So, it is advisable to get your car checked out by a qualified mechanic who has experience in diagnosing and repairing engine problems."
