Mercedes-Benz B-Class Facelift Preview

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz B-class MPV claims itself to be much dynamic with respect to its handling, performance and convenience compared to its predecessors. The credit goes to the technology and features extracted via the A-class and S-class. The 3rd gen MPV is manufactured under the codename of W247 and will become the fourth model of the Mercedes series of the latest eight smaller cars which are likely to arrive, prior to the fourth-gen Mercedes Benz A-class sedan.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Facelift Exterior

The upcoming B-class will be retaining its one-box silhouette which belongs to its forerunners but also will receive its design cues via the brand's new design language, which will be featuring a predator's face. The five-seater MPV will be little longer as 4,359mm, the width being 1,786mm and taller height of 1,557mm than its forerunner. The wheelbase measures 2,929mm and minimalises the drag coefficient of 0.24. Talking about the Alloy wheels, its size will be ranging from 16inches to 19inches.

The short overhangs present in the upcoming B-Class will be designed to aggravate the spacious interior. The B-Class will be the second model in a row second to sport the latest MBUX (Mercedes Benz user experience) multimedia system version which will include the voice, gesture, touch controls along with the Mercedes Me connectivity feature. The upcoming B-class will be hosting the instrument panel which will get split into 2 units. The MPV will be featuring two digital display units, each of which will range between 7.0inches and 10.25inches respectively based upon the specifications. Optional heads-up display will also be evident. Depending on options, the rear seats can be moved by 140mm, expanding boot capacity from 455 litres to and 705 litres, similar to the previous model. This expands to 1540 litres with the rear seats folded.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Facelift Engine & Transmission

The B-Class sedan will be offering five engines comprising two of petrol and three diesel trims respectively. The B 180 and B 200 variants will be using a four-cylinder, 1.33-litre M282 petrol engine which will produce max power of 136bhp and 200Nm of peak torque, and 163bhp power and 250Nm torque respectively. The basic-level B 180d will be empowered via 1.5-litre diesel engine which will produce max power of 115bhp and 260Nm torque. The latest 2.0-litre diesel engine will be offered in 2 states of tuning i.e 150bhp power/320Nm torque and 190bhp power /400Nm torque (B200d). The petrol engines and 1.5-litre diesel will be mated to 7-speed AMT and 8-speed transmission offered with the 2.0-litre diesel engine. We can also expect an AWD and much more trims as well.

Talking about the safety, the upcoming B-class will also be available with a bundle of optional driving assistance and safety measures which will allow for a semi-autonomous driving experience in distinct situations.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Facelift Performance and Handling

The latest suspension system present in the upcoming BMW B-Class will be introduced to maintain the prior model’s agility along adding comfort to it. It will be using McPherson struts in the front and a twist- beam axle at the rear as basic along with an electric damper tuning amongst various other options.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Facelift Competitors

The upcoming B-Class sedan will be rivalling against the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer.
