MG Hector Plus Preview

MG Hector has been selling well in the Indian market even with a stiff competition from the recently launched Kia Seltos. MG has now revealed the three-row version of the SUV at the Auto Expo 2020 and it is called as Hector Plus. The new MG Hector Plus will be available in 6-seater and 7-seater versions. The new SUV is around 40 mm longer than the current Hector to accommodate the rear seats. The second row will come with a conventional bench or a set of captain seats.

Hector Plus exteriors come with will come with redesigned front fascia and rear bumpers. MG will do this to make the Hector 6 seater more distinguishable just like the differences between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6. Speaking of the front, the grille is now finished in piano black and the chrome surrounding is not used anymore. There is new more sleek LED Daytime Running Lamps and headlamps to increase the appeal of the SUV. The front looks more elegant due to the new updates. The side profile comes with roof rails and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear will get clear lens treatment for the LED tail lamps and the lower half of the bumper gets a new set of reflectors and reversing light. It is also expected to get new dual exhaust tips setup where the current Hector gets a single exhaust unit.

Braking duties will be done by disc brakes in the front and at the rear. MG will be offering many safety features such as airbags, Anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake Distribution, Stability control and much more. The rear parking sensors and the 360-degree camera will help the driver park the car easily. It will also feature the connected car features that the Hector also offers. While the second row will get two captain chairs with individual armrests for added comfort. The interior will get leather upholstery, leather gear knob with leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel and a panoramic glass sunroof as a luxury touch. 

MG Hector Plus specs will be the same petrol and diesel as the Hector. The petrol variants will get a 1.5-litre, turbo petrol engine that makes a max power output of 143PS and a peak torque output of 250Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre diesel engine which is sourced from Fiat will produce a max power output of 170PS and a peak torque output of 350Nm. The diesel engine will be mated to only a 6-speed manual transmission. MG Hector Plus price is expected to start from around Rs. 17 lakhs.
