Conceived on the new UKL platform Mini Cooper S possesses boastful dimensions, the hatchback is 98 mm longer, 44 mm wider and 7 mm taller. Exterior variations like restyled honeycomb grille with S badge, large sporty air intakes and large twin exhausts point differ S trim from its diesel variant. Interiors too get modifications such as a more conventional speedometer placed in the front of the steering wheel which gets rev counter and fuel gauge either side. The electric window switches and door lock toggles have been replaced from centre stack to the doorpad. Mini Cooper S pictures given below show that the hatchback has received few modification varying it from its diesel avatar. Up front, bi-xenon head lights flank the bold chrome radiator grille, fog lights are provided in front as well as rear. Side profile features body coloured electrically adjustable and foldable outside rear view mirrors. Alloys are also fitted to all four wheels rendering a neat look to the exteriors. Chrome garnish, rain window wiper, rear window washer, rear window defogger, power antenna, tinted glass and rear spoiler sum up the fitments bestowed on the outside.

The previous engine has been replaced by the 2.0 litre, four cylinder, petrol engine which is 400cc larger than the outgoing motor. The petrol engine is capable of propagating top power and torque output of 189 Bhp and 28.8 kgm of torque at 1250 RPM. Fuel economy delivered by the 2.0 litre petrol engine is 12.6 kmpl in city conditions and 18.2 kmpl on highway.
