Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Facelift

Japanese car maker Mitsubishi has recently released the first official teaser image of the new upcoming model of the Pajero Sport premium SUV. The new Pajero Sport will have its global premiere on 1st of August this year in Thailand at the 2015 Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale. Following its world debut, the new model is expected launch in Thailand’s neighboring nations later this year. The Indian launch of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is expected to take place in early 2017. Mitsubishi is also thought to be displaying the SUV’s new avatar at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. Like the ongoing model, the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV will be sharing its platform with the Triton pickup truck that was unveiled last year. However, unlike before the new 2016 Pajero Sport facelift will look different than its new pick-up sibling model. Interestingly, when the new Pajero launches in India, it will change the segment in the country, as it will be the new contender of the next generation Toyota Fortuner, all new Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa-Fe facelift.

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport premium SUV is expected to get a fully revamped design language. Going by the dark teaser image, the new Pajero will be featuring the Japanese company’s new ‘Dynamic Shield’ design language which comes with a new large ‘X’ shaped radiator grille and heavily stylized sleek swept back headlights. This design language is also featured in the new refreshed 2016 Outlander model. Then again, the new Pajero Sport will also flaunt the same stylish LED daytime running lights that are found on the new facelift Outlander.

Mitsubishi is likely to offer a thorough update to the SUV in the mechanical level as well. Under the hood, the new 2016 Pajero premium SUV is expected to get powered by a new 4-cylinder 2.4 liter MIVEC diesel mill that runs the 2015 Triton replacing the ongoing 2.5 liter motor. The new powertrain is more powerful and frugal than the existing mill. The new diesel engine will be offering a max power of more than 180 hp and a peak torque of 430 Nm. The transmission gearbox options are also going to get updated in the new model and an automatic will continue to be offered.

The Pajero Sport facelift is expected to return a mileage around 11 KMPL.
