Christened as Nissan Jid'sha Kabushiki-gaisha and abridged as Nissan, the Nissan Motor Company Limited is a Japanese multinational automaker headquartered in Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Japan.
Nissan offers Evalia for the Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) segment. With global acclaim tucked under its belt, Evalia will amplify the competition in the 7-seater MUV segment that is currently dominated by the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is actually a notch below in both price and size, with rear seats mainly for children. Nissan Evalia is conceivably the highest selling van-platform in the world at the moment, and has been recently nominated as the next generation New York Cab and London Black Taxi. But Nissan harbours a different dream for the Indian auto market. It has not launched Evalia specifically for the fleet-market in India. Nissan Evalia XE is the entry level trim of this wonderful and very charming 7-seater multi-utility vehicle. The interior of this utility vehicle has a lot of space with sliding captain seats in the middle row. Prima facie, Evalia looks like a van with its flat box-like design and sliding doors. On closer inspection, this MUV is no compromise with regard to the finishing and fitments. In certain important areas, Evalia races ahead of its competition. Its 1.5-litre K9K turbocharged diesel engine and light weight body provide incredible fuel efficiency. It effortlessly registers a mileage of 17 kmpl. It is abundantly spacious, even for the passengers of the last row; and has still more space in the boot with the third row in place. Although it is not a button-start, the car gets decent features with the top-end XV offering keyless entry and go and a colour multi-function display that not only displays a plethora of information, but also doubles up as the screen for the video feed coming from the reverse camera.

The total length of Nissan Evalia is 4.4 m while its width is 1.695 m. Its overall height is 1.88 m. The sliding doors for the second row have only butterfly windows and there are no AC vents for the second row, which means the commute without air-conditioning will be a problem for all but the first row, especially in summer. The third row gets its own set of vents and blower controls as standard. The 14” tyres are very skinny and give car-on-castor visual effect. 15” tyres will be made available as a dealer option. The tail-lamps are lovely in isolation but their curvy lenses don’t gel with the straight-edged panels at the rear. Evalia’s loading area is very low which makes the boot extremely usable. Nissan Evalia has an unusually high bonnet but the 1461cc K9K engine does its job well. With 85bhp and 200nm, Nissan claims to offer the best performance in the segment – and claims 19-odd kmpl as per ARAI certification, which is a sight more than the competition - Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova. The transverse-engined, front-drive layout, which offers less transmission losses over the front-engine, rear drive layout of the competition. Its chassis is also superior to that of its competition. Chevrolet Tavera, Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova have an inferior ladder-frame chassis.

Nissan Evalia has a magnificent seating arrangement that is very comfortable with cushioned seats that give a superior lumbar support along with pertinent back and thigh support. These seats are all covered with premium fabric upholstery and are very soft, which makes it very comfortable even for longer highway drives. The interiors are done up in a well dressed beige trim, which gives this MUV an exceptional feel.
