The Toxic Fume Warning light of my Nissan Terrano is on, what may be the problem and how it can be solved?

The Toxic Fume Filter Warning light (which looks like a tap to some) comes on when the ignition is activated and extinguishes shortly after. There may be many causes for this and some of the more common ones are either due to a fuel injection system, intake or vacuum system pipes restricted or split, engine management sensor running out of parameters, failing coils thus the fuel injected isn't being burnt efficiently etc. If the light remains on continuously, consult an authorised mechanic. If the light flashes, reduce the engine speed until light stops flashing and seek assistance from your local Nissan service center.
