ORA R1 Preview

ORA is owned by the Chinese manufacturer the Great Wall Motors. Great Wall Motors will also be introducing its EV brand in India and it will be launching the cheapest EV in the world, the ORA R1. Braking duties will be done by disc brakes in the front and at the rear. ORA will also feature regenerative braking, which charges the battery whenever the driver applies the brakes as the system collects the wasted energy while braking and converts it into electricity. The small EV hatchback will be loaded with features such as 9-inch infotainment that will be controlled via touchscreen, voice commands and through the multi function steering wheel. The infotainment system is connected to four speakers and also comes with Bluetooth telephony. You can give commands to the car by just saying "Hello, Ora" which is the main highlight point of the EV. The ORVMs are electrically adjustable and manually foldable to keep the costs low. Safety is taken care by dual airbags and Anti Lock Braking System. There is also a tyre pressure monitoring system that warns the driver if the tyre pressure is not at optimum levels. There are also rear parking sensors that will help the driver to park the car in a tight parking space.
ORA R1 exteriors are quirky and looks attractive and modern due to the dual tone colour paint scheme used. At the front, you get circular LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps. The side profile gets a set of alloy wheels with body coloured ORVMs with LED turn indicators and a shark fin antenna. The rear gets square-shaped LED tail lamps with a rear fog lamp light placed in the centre of the bumper. The ORA R1 range is 351km in a single charge. ORA R1 specs will offer a 35kW motor that produces a max power output of 48PS and a peak torque output of 125Nm. The ORA R1 is expected to charge up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes. The ORA R1 price is expected to start from around Rs. 8 lakhs.
