Renault Captur Overview

The Renault Captur has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs.9.99 lacs (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi), which goes up to Rs.14.06 for its top-end variant. The Renault Captur price in India clearly makes it one of the best compact SUVs available in the segment. It is available in both petrol and diesel engine variants, where a total of 10 variants are on sale – six for diesel and four for petrol. One can also choose the dual-tone color variant by paying an extra Rs.17,000.

Renault Captur Exterior

The Renault Captur 2017 is based on the same platform on which the Duster is made. However, both Renault Captur and Duster have nothing in common when it comes to exterior design, style and overall looks. Renault Captur seems inspired from European design language with curves, swooped lines and a trendy appearance, which will be liked by people of all ages.
On its front, the Captur boasts a small yet muscular bonnet diving down at the front between well-designed chrome grille and good-looking headlight assembly. The front bumper with integrated C-shaped LED daytime running lamps and fog lamps gels very well with the design language. On its side profile, the 17-inch ‘crystal cut’ wheels look simply superb. The rear has a clean and refreshing design, which goes very well with trendiness of Renault Captur car.

Renault Captur Interior

When it comes to Renault Captur interiors, there is a lot to talk about. It is one of the most attractive and premium-looking car from inside as well. The dashboard layout and design is much better than what is found on the Duster. It looks fresh, decent yet dynamic with butterfly-shaped instrument cluster, large digital speedometer with tachometer and a fuel gauge. The cabin is lighted with ambient LED lights that look really cool and premium. The plastics used are of decent quality.
The top-end variant of Renault Captur features a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB connectivity options. It also supports voice command, navigation and acts as a rear camera display, when needed. However, it misses Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other features on the inside include steering mounted controls, cruise control, electrically operated wing mirrors and automatic climate control, which is a standard feature acoss all variants.
2017 Renault Captur is quite a comfortable car. The two-tone white-and-black leatherette seats are very comfortable and they look good too. It offers good under-thigh support, knee room, back support and shoulder room, which makes Captur a perfect car for long journeys. Even three average adults on the rear won’t have any complaints regarding space and comfort. The rear gets its own set of AC vents too.

Renault Captur Engine & Transmission

Renault Captur is available in both – petrol & diesel engine options. The petrol variant gets the 1.5-litre (1498cc) H4K petrol engine that churns 104.55bhp of maximum power at 5600rpm and 142NM of peak torque at 4000rpm. It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. For the diesel variant, Renault has used the tried & tested 1.5-litre (1461cc) dCi diesel engine that produces 108.4bhp of maximum power and 240NM of peak torque at 1750rpm. This one gets a six-speed manual gearbox. In the compact SUV segment, the Renault Captur specifications have a wide potential to make it a popular and successful car in very less time.

Renault Captur Mileage

The Renault Captur mileage figures are quite good. The Petrol Engine with manual transmission claims a fuel mileage of 13.87kmpl, while the Diesel Engine with manual transmission promises a fuel mileage of 20.37kmpl.

Renault Captur Braking and Safety

The list of Renault Captur safety features include Front Disc Brakes, Drum on Rear, ABS with EBD, Rear Parking Sensors, Central Locking, Driver & Passenger Airbags, Crash Sensors, Rear Seat Belts, Seat Belt Warning, Power Door Lock, Child Safety Locks, Side & Front Impact Beams, Passenger Side Rear View Mirror, Rear Camera, Centrally Mounted Fuel Tank, Engine Immobilizer, Automatic Headlamps, Follow Me Home Headlamps and ISOFIX Child Seat.

Renault Captur Performance and Handling

The Renault Captur 2017 offers an enjoyable experience under all types of driving conditions and roads. On highways, this car will offer you a sense of power and is very smooth to handle and control on top speeds. It won’t let you feel low and under-powered when you throttle on the roads. All thanks to the responsive steering wheel, you will have mental peace and good control of the front wheels on high speeds. It handles all the corners, twists and turns without any fuss.

What do we think about Renault Captur?

The 2017 Renault Captur is an interesting and well-proportioned mid-sized SUV, which gets an attractive, trendy and appealing exterior design, great looking interiors, premium features and a well-refined & responsive engine. During our Renault Captur review and driving tests, we found that this car has everything needed to take Renault’s legacy and popularity forward in the Indian automobile market. What we liked the most is the overall appearance of this car. It is definitely one of the best-looking mid-sized SUVs available today.
