Renault Scala is a mid-size premium sedan launched by Renault in 2012. This car bears a strong resemblance to Nissan Sunny. The car is manufactured at the Chennai-based manufacturing plant of the Franco-Japanese conglomerate, Renault-Nissan. It comes in both Petrol and Diesel variants.
Scala is a beautiful sedan that falls in between Renault’s luxury sedan Fluence and its compact hatchback, Pulse. The car joins Renault’s incredible fleet and lends even greater credibility to the company’s profile in India. Scala is a keenly designed sedan that comes with a horde of features. It comes in five impressive and vibrant exterior paints - Pearl White, Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue and Solid Black.Renault Scala (2012-2017) Overview

Chrome is significantly used on the exterior of Scala and this lends a posh feel to the sedan. The spectacular exterior features include bi-tonal front and rear bumpers, smoked style head lamps along with a pair of bright fog lamps integrated in the front bumper, body colored external mirrors, door handles with chrome finish, a stylish set of 15” alloy wheels, a chrome trunk with a ‘SCALA’ embossing on the boot lid, an integrated roof antenna, rear wind screen defogger and many more. What do we think about Renault Scala (2012-2017)?

A considerable portion of Scala’s exterior looks like that of Nissan Sunny but it cannot be ignored that its elder sibling Fluence has exerted on it, quite a bit of an influence! The Renault Fluence had already received quite a bit of positive feedback so its amendments were integrated into the Renault Scala as well. The front end of the car is dominated by the look of the bumper and the grille. The grille in Scala is more enhanced and with a chrome treatment. The rear end of the sedan is dominated by the tail gate and the dual exhaust pipes. The door handles and the ORVMs are body-coloured. These ORVMs are electrically controlled. The wheel arches of the car are really wide and they are body-coloured too.
Scala is a very interesting addition to Renaut’s portfolio. It is a midsize sedan that comes with a plush interior that boasts of multiple features. Presented in 2012, Renault Scala is a sedan based on the Nissan Sunny and aimed exclusively at the Indian market. It has an impressive frontal end with chrome treatment. Other assets include a vast boot and rear compartment providing more room for passengers. In terms of safety, Renault Scala ships with ABS and airbags. It is available with Petrol as well as a Diesel engine. Penned by the Renault design centre in Mumbai, Renault Scala is built at the Alliance plant in Chennai. This site, which meets all Alliance quality criteria, applies a production system based on shared expertise and the best practices applied by both Renault and Nissan. Vehicles for both brands can be produced on the same line. By using the Nissan Sunny platform, Renault cut both costs and development times. In this way, Renault Scala is an example of the synergies generated by the Alliance. Apart from its practical and convenient features, the sedan also has been bestowed with some significant safety features. These comprise of an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) along with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist, dual front airbags for the driver as well as the front seat passenger, speed sensing automatic door locks, rear door child safety locks, an engine immobilizer with an anti theft alarm and also an anti pinch auto down driver side window with a one touch up and down. All these put together certainly make Scala race ahead of its competition. To build confidence in the customers of the brand, the company is also providing a 2+2 years or 80,000 kilometers warranty along with a servicing three times at regular intervals. To further bolster this effort of after sales service, Renault India is also giving its cars a 24/7 road side assistance, which is supremely commendable. Renault Scala is equipped with power windows, power steering, tilt-adjustable steering wheel and electronically adjustable ORVMs. A multitude of audio controls have been mounted on the steering wheel of the car. There is a powerful audio system integrated with the dash board. The sound quality is incredible and listening to the radio is also an option. The music system in the car comes with 4 speakers. The car is sensitive to passenger safety and is a pleasurable ride. It is quite fuel-efficient and hence keeps one hassle-free. The interiors are very well ergonomically designed and the space is available is amazing. The leg room and head room is more than adequate and taller passengers can hop in without breaking a sweat. Priced between 7.4 L and 10.3 L, Scala is a superb sedan for those who live to drive intra-city in style.
