    Renault Scenic has enjoyed huge success since its launch in 1996 and is unarguably, one of the best-selling MPV in its segment, especially in the European market. The MPV is built and rolled out of the Douai plant in Northern France, which is an ISO 14001 certified site.

    Face fascia garners a lot of attention. The design will attract many buyers. The car looks attractive and modern. Elements such as the swept back headlamps, well designed grille and bulges on the bonnet all these lend Scenic a striking look. The front bumper has neat recesses for the fog lamps and flows seamlessly into the large wheel arches. The company logo is fitted in the center of the grille further enhances its appeal. The side profile too is quite dynamic as the roof strakes flow elegantly from the A-pillar to C-pillar. Body coloured ORVMs and door handles help in improving the overall modern look and stylishly designed alloy wheels adds a sporty touch too. The rear profile is highlighted with a beautiful and detailed tail lamp assembly which intrudes nicely into the boot lid. The tail gate gets a roof spoiler along with a thick slat of chrome.

    Visually, the people carrier looks quite attractive and elegant even, for its size and comes with well balanced interiors and colour options. It is 4,340mm in length and can easily accommodate up to five or seven passengers without compromising on comfort or safety.

    Internationally this yet to be launched MPV comes with a choice of four petrol and diesel engines which include a 1.2 liter turbo and 1.6 liter VTVT engines. The car is also offered with 1.5 liter dCi unit that powers range of cars in India including Duster, Terrano, Micra etc. The Indian model is expected to be powered by 2.0-litre dCi diesel engine that discharges a peak power of 148 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, mated to this engine would be six speed manual or automatic transmission gears.

    It would be too early to comment on the mileage of the Renault Scenic. The petrol variant is expected to deliver a mileage of 12-13 kmpl while diesel variants around 17-18 kmpl.

    On the safety front, this MPV is expected to come with standard safety features like airbags, Anti-lock Brake System,Electronic Stability Control, Cruise Control, Brake Assist, regenerative function etc. The brakes would offer good stopping power and manufacturers should offer rear discs for extra edge on safety.

    The vehicle is built with the aim of delivering all needed for its passengers. It scores high on the ride and handling department. Engine is eager and responsive with barely any turbo. It is a brilliant car for city driving conditions and a highway cruiser too. Acceleration is very impressive with linear power delivery. The car would offer good stability at high speeds and wouldn’t feel stressed at triple digit speeds. The car would come with electric power assisted steering for easy maneuvering.Ground clearance is good, so one can be assured that the car don’t scrape its belly on most of our nasty speed breakers. Like other models from the company, it will also get an efficient suspension mechanism, which keeps it well balanced and stable at all times.

    The Renault Scenic has everything that a MPV would desire – spacious cabin, good ride & handling and decent equipment levels. This MPV will rival the likes of the Innova Crysta when launches in the market.

    If Renault brings the Scenic MPV into the country, In the Indian market, the Scenic MPV will compete with the likes of Toyota Innova, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia and the Honda Mobilio.
