Stealing the limelight at the Renault India’s pavilion during the 14thAuto Expo was its all electric Renault Zoe Concept. The company hinted at launching the EV in India in tandem with government’s goal to go all electric by 2030. Though, Renault Zoe E-Sport is already on sale in several European countries, it would be launched in India after it gets proper infrastructure to support EVs. As for the pricing, the Renault Zoe price in India is expected to fall in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.

The Renault Zoe Concept is an amalgamation of the standard Renault Zoe and a Formula E Renault e.dams single seater, which gives it a sporty design. Unlike the usual EVs which feature a boxy silhouette, the Renault Zoe was seen sporting satin blue bodywork reminiscent of the Renault e.dams single-seater exterior styling. It additionally features splashes of yellow, C-shape lighting signature and Renault badge with a back lit treatment.

The insides of the Renault Zoe 2018 are expected to be styled in line with its sporty exteriors. Additionally, Renault will pack a bunch of comfort and connectivity tech. The international model comes with a host of features such as heated seats, push button start/stop, and premium leather seat-covers and we could expect some of these on the India-spec model. While nothing much has been revealed by the carmaker yet, the EV was seen testing in India right ahead of its official debut at the biennial event, which bolsters Renault’s claims of introducing the EV in India at a later stage.

The Renault Zoe specification setup comprises two electric motors that produce combined power of 466bhp along with 640Nm of peak torque. It additionally gets two batteries that have a storage capacity of 40 kW. While the batteries allow to achieve full power, the air and water cooling system enables maintaining correct temperature for the batteries and electronics.

The Renault Zoe also comes with four driving modes and drivers can choose a mode based on their preference. According to the European driving cycle, the Renault Zoe delivers an impressive range of 400km. The EV charges up to 80% within 65 minutes through a quick-charger. Renault however maintains the EV could offer 300km of range in real-world driving conditions and will take 8-9 hours for one full charge through a standard 7kW charger.

Renault Zoe Braking and Safety

Although Renault has not revealed much information about the EV, it is expected to come with all primary safety bits including airbags, ABS, EBD, etc. Braking set-up is also likely to be robust, in line with other EVs from Renault.

Renault Zoe Performance and Handling

According to claims made by the company, Renault Zoe can achieve the 0 to 100km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds and offers top speed of 210km/h. Since the EV hasn’t launched yet, it is a bit early to comment on this aspect.

What do we think about Renault Zoe?

Renault currently offers a range of traditional petrol-diesel powered vehicles in India, however with the government’s probe to go all electric by 2030, the company is now planning to launch EVs in India. The Zoe looks like a complete package with sporty looks and impressive range, topped by a bunch of goodies.

    The Renault Zoe is expected to be launched in India either by the end of this year or early next year (November 2018 to February 2019). Renault recently confirmed that Zoe is a perfect car for the Indian market, and it will launch the model when there is a proper ecosystem to support EVs.   Read More
