Skoda Yeti is a unique compact SUV featuring 2.0L diesel engine. The same engine is made to deliver different powers in 4X2 version and 4X4 version. In 4X2 variant, the 1968 cc engine delivers power of 110PS and Torque of 250Nm. Where as in 4X4 version it delivers 140PS power and Torque of 320Nm. The ex showroom price ranges from 19 to 22 Lakhs depending upon variant. Mahindra XUV 500 features 2.2L mHawk engine delivering power of 140PS and Torque of 330Nm. The ex showroom price ranges from 11 to 13.5Lakh. Besides, Yeti is a five seater and XUV 500 is seven seater. With large interiros, tough build quality and advanced engine and features XUV 500 offers more value for the money spent and hence makes a better option.
Mahindra XUV 500 and Skoda Yeti both are rivals and both have their individual styles. Look-wise, both are almost same with minor divergence; price tag has a huge difference. So, I found Mahindra XUV 500 a better option, as Yeti is badly overpriced. When we are getting same design, in fact cooler than Yeti and good features at a relatively cheaper price, then who will spend extra bucks for nothing but name. In fact not so great name too (brand). Mahindra XUV 500, though, doesn't come with very high quality of interiors, but it is a powerful product for sure. As we all know that Mahindra is known for it's power packed products.
One of the biggest difference among Skoda Yeti and Mahindra XUV500 is the price range. If price range is not a constraint then Skoda Yeti definitely can be considered as it not only has the power that Mahindra can match but also comes with more premium interiors and ample amount of cabin space. Though Mahindra is more masculine in its looks, yet Skoda Yeti has an urban elegance which can appeal to many buyers.
I agree with the points made above but I would like to point out that price is a big point to consider. There is a difference between the prices of these two cars. Mahindra XUV500 comes with a powerful engine and has better network in the country. Mahindra products have been highly reliable. Yet it is totally a personal choice between the two cars depending on what factor once chooses over another.
