Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Expert Review

The eco-friendly edition, Tata Nano CNG eMax LX CNG+Petrol by Tata Motors, is one of the CNG versions. This is the same vehicle unveiled at Tata’s Horizonext event held a few years back. This version of Nano claims to be the most fuel-efficient as well as economical hatchback available in India. This eMax LX CNG version comes with an option of petrol. The CNG version of the hatch has been tuned to reduce the overall running cost, which is approx Rs. 1.32/km.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Exterior

In terms of exterior design, this car comes with no significant alterations but just a few elements are added to differentiate it with the regular Nano. To make it more upmarket, the company has added CNG e-max badging and more. The LX CNG variant has got most of the new changes including the front, which has been defined very well with chrome strips at the bonnet, a large headlamp cluster, a thick front bumper and sleek black colored grille. The side profile of the car features some sporty lines on the door, which get merged at the rear and above the wheel arches. The body colored rear view mirrors and door handles add more to its style. Its rear design too is ingeniously built with vertical rear lamps, broad rear windscreen and the engine cover.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Interior

The entire cockpit has been perfectly built and every element seems to be well placed. The dashboard of Tata Nano CNG eMax LX CNG comes in two color options-Premium Beige fabric and trendy sporty Black fabric. The central console features a new digital fuel guage and a three spoke steering wheel. Being the top variant, its seat upholstery comes in the same two colors options the dashboard shows.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Engine & Transmission

The engine used in this hatch is with a bi-fuel system inbuilt in it and that offers an alternate fuel option to run the vehicle. Tata Motors have used globally recognized CNG fittings in Tata Nano CNG e-Max LX CNG that reduces the carbon footprint to 75.6g/km and turns it the most fuel-efficient car. This is the same 624cc petrol mill that serves the regular Nano petrol. While the CNG mode on, this trim offers 32.5bhp of max power at 5500 rpm and top torque measures 45Nm at 3500rpm. With petrol mode on, this engine’s capacity is 37.5bhp of power for a ride with no power lag.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Mileage

The engine with CNG assistance can deliver a meaty mileage of 36km/kg on long revs and around 30km/kg on streets. When it is driven on petrol mode, then too its mileage is affordable due to a very refined engine.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Braking and Safety

The entire braking system consists of dual circuit; vertical split operated by tandem master cylinder with vacuum booster is the brake type. At the front and rear wheels, it has 180mm dia drum brakes. Its safety features are; central locking, booster assisted brakes, rear high mount stop lamp, front and rear seat belts and so on.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Performance and Handling

The top speed of the car reaches up to 105kmph and it can cover the distance of 100kmph from standstill in mere 12 seconds. This trim comes with Independent, Lower Wishbone, MxPherson Strut with gas filled dampers and anti-roll and the front and Independent, Semi trailing arm with coil spring and gas filled shock absorbers at its rear to suppress the jerks and enhance the safety. This adds more to the handling of the car.
  • Tata Nano GenX CNG eMax LX Verdict

Overall, the CNG plus petrol edition of the hatch comes with several fascinating features that not only comfort the buyers but also available at a very exciting price. Tata Nano CNG eMax LX CNG price has been kept pretty competitive and that makes it the most economical car fall in the B segment. It is up for its fuel-efficiency and the CNG fuel option; nevertheless, it falls down in terms of highway stability.
