About Tata

Quick overview about Tata Nano GenX

Tata Motors’ zeal to up Nano in the eye of customers is evident with the number of tweaks it has received ever since its debut in India back in 2009. With each update the hatchback has matured in terms of utility, features and styling

Its petite size has been the talk of the town since its inception; no changes have been made on that front. Dimensions remain intact, the hatchback measures 3164 mm long, 1750 mm wide (with ORVM), 1652 mm high and has a short wheelbase of 2230 mm

No conspicuous change has been made to the interiors of Tata Nano GenX, except for sportier upholstery. The XE, XM and XMA variants get black and silver ‘Matrixed Nano’ with denim bolster fabrics upholstery and matrixed Nano fabrics with ebony door trims

Engine & Transmission:

For generating power, Tata Motors has housed the same low displacement 624cc petrol engine in the Nano GenX model that served in the outgoing version. The petrol motor is good for maximum power of 38 PS at 5500 +/- 250 RPM along with peak torque of 51 Nm at 4000 +/- RPM

Tata Nano GenX manual variant is capable of returning ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 25.3 kms in a litre which is considerably more than the 21.9 kmpl offered by the automated manual transmission version. Performance & Handling: Tata Nano top speed is around 105 kmph, which is not very impressive as compared to the rivals

Braking and Safety:

Braking system comprises of drum brake in front and rear giving a skip to the pivotal braking equipments such as anti-lock-braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. For the safety and security of the occupants the car maker has equipped only a handful of secondary safety features like central locking which is present in the XT and XTA trims only, other than this the hatchback gets central high mount stop lamp, booster assisted brakes, front and rear seat belts, additional body reinforcements, impact cushioning crumple zones, side intrusion beams and hazard warning switch

Performance and Handling:

The Nano has just about enough power to make it a fun little car to drive in the city. The motor is peppy and keeps the driver busy

What do we think about:

The Tata Nano is an engineering marvel, a feat recognized by the greatest of the great in the international automotive community. The car is comfortable, spacious, fuel efficient and cheap and there isn't much left to be desired

The Nano really doesn't have any competitors since it is the only A-segment car there is. But if you still persist, you may compare it to the Maruti Suzuki Alto-800 or the Hyundai Eon, which are in fact in a different price segment altogether
