How is the performance of Tata Nano LX

Tata Nano LX is powered by 0.6-litre, twin-pot motor which produces a modest 37 bhp of power @ 5500 rpm and 51 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. These figures might sound less for a car but Tata engineers have smartly kept the weight under 650 kgs, resulting in a good power to weight ratio. The ARAI claimed mileage of Nano LX is 25.4 kmpl, you can expect 19-20 kmpl in city driving conditions.
Within the city Nano LX feels quite peppy to drive and there no lack of power and torque. Acceleration is decently brisk, it picks-up speed quickly. Though at low speeds, the steering is a bit heavy and doesn’t weigh up well as the speed increases. Due to its small wheels, riding over broken roads is no less than a punishment in this car.
In my opinion Nano LX is a decent performer on city roads, but I would suggest people not to buy it for highway cruising, as this car falls short in terms of safety and high-speed stability.
