Tata Q502 Preview

Tata is expected to launch a seven-seat SUV codenamed Q502 in India. While the H5 model, now christened Harrier, was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, the company is yet to preview the Q502 publicly. Akin to the Harrier, the upcoming Tata Q502 is also expected to be based on the L550 platform, which underpins Land Rover Discovery. The seven-seat model is expected to be armed by a 2.0-litre Multijet II Turbo diesel engine in both manual and automatic versions. Expected to come packed with a host of features, the Tata Q502 price in India could fall between Rs. 14 to 19 lakh.

Tata Q502 Exterior

The upcoming Tata Q502 exterior will not only share underpinnings with Land Rover Discovery Sport, but also is likely to borrow some styling cues from the SUV. Tata has been emphasizing on the design and styling of all its new models that are based on its IMPACT design theme. As for the Harrier and Q502 models, Tata could use the IMPACT 2.0 design language.

The new Q502 interior will get high-quality materials and a pleasing design. Tata will pack the cabin with a host of comfort and connectivity features, such a touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cooled glovebox, multi-zone climate control, leather upholstery, electric sunroof, etc. The long wheelbase will carve a spacious cabin with ample room for occupants at the front and rear.

Tata Q502 Engine & Transmission

Under the hood, the Tata Q502 specifications are expected to get the 2.0-litre Multijet II turbo diesel engine good for maximum power for 170 bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm. Transmission options are likely to include manual as well as automatic gearbox. There could be a 4WD system and a 2WD drivetrain on option.

Tata Q502 Mileage

Expected to be powered by the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, the upcoming Tata Q502 mileage is expected to be around 17 km/l.

Tata Q502 Braking and Safety

The upcoming Tata Q502 features in terms of safety are likely to include six airbags, anti-lock-braking system, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, hill climb assist and a host of other technical aides.

Tata Q502 Performance and Handling

The 2.0-litre Multijet turbo diesel engine is expected to offer smooth performance and handling. Likely to be offered with a 4WD drivetrain, the forthcoming Q502 is likely to offer great off-roading performance.

What do we think about Tata Q502?

Tata Motors is aggressively working on its new line of SUVs, including the Harrier and Q502 models. While the Harrier will be a five-seater SUV, its seven-seater version will be launched at a later stage. As for the Q502, the company hasn’t revealed much details barring the fact that it will be a seven seat model that could be based on the L550 platform.
