I wish to buy a Tata Tiago petrol variant. However, I've been hearing that Tata petrol engines don't do well and are failures. Is that so?

This was a case in the earlier times but it isn’t so now. The company has come a long way and have improved their products up to a very high extent. Tata Tiago is a brilliant car in terms of design as well as performance. The petrol engine vehicle is equipped with a 1199cc engine producing 83.8bhp power. It can deliver a mileage of up to 23.8 kmpl. This petrol engine is made of aluminium which reduces the weight of the vehicle and hence affects the overall mileage and performance. You can choose from Revotron XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ variants with the ex-showroom prices at New Delhi, varying between Rs. 3.2 Lakhs and Rs. 4.8 Lakhs.

When I accelerate, some abnormal noise comes from my new Tata Tiago which has covered just 300 kms, brakes also get jammed for few seconds. It delivers me a mileage of only 14 kmpl. Is there any manufacturing defect?
