Why does my Tata Tiago make noise while reversing? I asked the service person, he said it is common in all Tata cars, is it true?

It might be true, if the noise you are hearing while reversing is due to spur gear teeth clacking against each other but there are also other cause of noise while reversing a car like - ball joint or tie rod seizing up, some internal issue in the transmission, some issue in the drive line or could be brake rotor backing plate rubbing. If you have any doubt, you can also get your car checked-out by some other skilled mechanic to reconfirm whether the noise is normal or due to some other issue.
