Should I buy Tata Tiago XZ (petrol)? I mostly drive in city. Which other cars can I consider in this segment?

Tata Tiago is one of the most attractive looking hatchback available at a value-for-money price. In my opinion the built quality of this car is best in the segment.

Interiors on the Tata Tiago offer a good quality fit and finish and the dashboard looks simple yet elegant. Seat comfort is good with the right amount of cushioning. Space inside the cabin is good and there is good amount of legroom and knee room but rear headroom is a bit short for tall passengers. While three adults would find the rear a squeeze, two will find it adequately roomy. The air-conditioning could have been better too and blowers get noisy when turn to its higher setting.

Engine offers good linear performance and pulls cleanly from low revs. The ARAI claimed mileage of Tiago (petrol) is 23.8 kmpl which is very impressive. This car is very practical in city traffic conditions, it is quite easy to park in tight spots but it lacks the top end punch for highways.Suspension offers good ride quality both in city and on highway. However, the NVH level in Tiago is not very refined.

The Tiago XZ has a generous feature list and the car comes with airbags (driver & co-driver), ABS, EBD, AC (manual), tilt steering, parking sensors, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, 6 speaker music system, steering mounted controls, alloy wheels and much more.

Talking about after-sales service, Tata Motors doesn’t really excel much in this department. The company really lags behind its rivals when it comes to after-sales.

Other cars I would suggest you to consider in this segment are Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i10.
