There is tough competition between Hyundai Xcent and New Tata Zest. Hyundai offers 1197 cc petrol engine delivering power of 83PS/6000 RPM and Torque of 116NM/4000 RPM. In diesel version it features 1120cc 3 cylinder engine delivering power of 72PS/4000 RPM and Torque of 184NM/2500 rpm. Tata Zest offers 1.2L Turbocharged MPFI petrol engine delivering power of 90PS/5000RPM and Torque of 140NM/3500 RPM. Two diesel engines on offer with same cc. The 1248 cc engine delivers power of 75PS/4000RPM and Torque of 190NM/3000RPM, Quadrajet 90PS version delivering power of 90PS/4000 RPM and Torque of 200NM/3000 RPM. With good lot of advanced features, Tata Zest makes a better selection.
Hyundai Xcent features 1.2L petrol engine delivering power of 83PS and Torque of 113Nm. Ttat Zest features 1.2L petrol engine delivering power of 90PS and Torque of 140NM. Both vehicles are new in market and offer best of styling and features. The selection depends on brand preferences also. To choose one, Tata Zest would be better option for host of new features and comparatively easy of maintenance with wide spread service network and lesser price of spares.
Tata is surely back in the game with the launch of Zest and they aimed to capture a significant portion of sub-4 metre sedan segment. However, sales figures are suggesting Zest is not pushing sales of Tata. Xcent has got a bigger, spacious cabin, more features, and more luxurious dash than the Zest. Moreover, it has the bigger boot than Zest. Zest is also great in terms of cabin quality, ride, handling, and engine capacity. Maybe the lack of fit and finish is the reason that Zest is not so popular. Further, Tata vehicles have not earned a good name for reliability and durability.
