Which is a better car between Tata Zest XMS or Hyundai Xcent S?

Tata Zest XMS is a 1248cc diesel engine car that delivers 74bhp at 4000rpm whereas the torque produced by the car is 190Nm at 1750rpm. The diesel variant of Hyundai Xcent S is 1120cc engine that delivers 71bhp at 4000rpm and a torque produced is 180Nm at 1750rpm. Both the cars use a manual transmission. The main difference comes in terms of features where Tata Zest XMS offers ABS with EBD, two airbags which are missing from Hyundai. Hyundai Xcent on the other hand features a rear defogger, cooled glove box, dual tone interiors and child safety lock that are missing from the Zest.
When we talk about the cars overall, Xcent is fuel efficient, practical with comfortable ride quality, Hyundai’s low maintenance costs and a smooth gearbox. However, the space can be an issue in the Xcent. While the steering isn’t exactly what one would like, the same company is offering better features at a similar price. Hyundai i20 is a hatchback but in terms of features it is ahead of the Xcent and falls almost in the same price range. Zest on the other hand is convenient, spacious, has good refinement and an impressive driveability. However, the negatives for the car include the concerns about long term reliability.
However, the best judge as to which is better for you is you. You should list the pros and cons of both and then workout which car suits you the best. In my opinion it should be the Xcent just because I don’t trust Tata cars in the longer run. However, the company has improved tonnes but like they say, once bitten twice shy.
