Well, it is very subjective issue, as it depends upon the distance that you are going to cover each day in your Tata Zest. If the total distance travelled in a month is less than 1500 kms then petrol model would be a better choice else diesel model would be better, as it will be more fuel efficient in the long run.

Let’s compare some other aspects:

The diesel Zest is powered by Fiat sourced 1.3 liter engine that produces maximum power of 89 bhp and maximum torque of 200 Nm. The engine noise doesn’t intrude into the cabin when going at ease but it gets loud near the redline. The claimed mileage of diesel Zest is 20.6 kmpl.

The petrol Zest is powered by 1.2 liter Revotron engine, it has been designed to deliver superior performance & power. The mid-range is reasonably good. The engine feels quite refined and the NVH levels are well within control. The claimed mileage of petrol model is 20.5 kmpl. As per user reviews petrol model feels comparatively more solid and a pleasant thing to drive.

I advise you to take a test drive of both models to experience the ride quality for yourself and make your choice as per your need & preference.
