Tata Zest (diesel) and Maruti Suzuki DZire (diesel) both are powered by 1.3 liter turbocharged engine but Maruti uses a less powerful 74bhp version of the engine while the Zest uses a more powerful 90 bhp edition, this is because they are driven by a different turbo-charger. According to official ARAI figures, the DZire is rated at a more fuel efficient 28.4 kmpl as compared to the Tata Zest’s 20.6 kmpl.
Both cars are nice to drive. Dzire feels a bit firm at low speeds while Zest copes with the bumps and road irregularities much better, and keeps the occupants well isolated from the rough stuff. Speaking about steering, the steering of Zest feels more lighter hence offers better handling in city traffic conditions.
The ground clearance of Tata Zest and DZire is 165mm and 163mm respectively.
