Petrol or diesel for mileage in city?

Hello Ganesh !!

For the kind of usage mentioned, petrol version Etios Liva would be better option. With petrol version you can get mileage of 17.7kmpl as per ARAI claim by the manufacturer. In practice anything around 16kmpl is very reliable. In diesel version, there are better figures with reliable mileage of more than 20kmpl. However you will be spending around 1 lakh for diesel version. Considering overall factors and kind of utility requirements mentioned, petrol version would be better.

Thanks

Both the trims of Toyota Etios Liva have refined engines as the D-4D engine that has common rail fuel injection technology, which has the ability to generate a minimum fuel-efficiency of 32.32kmpl in city conditions and a meaty mileage of 23.32kmpl on wider roads. On the other hand, its petrol variants are powered by a 1.2-liter engine, which is attached with an electronic fuel injection system. This mill can offer fuel-efficiency in the range of 15.1kmpl to 17.71kmpl. The light body weight of the Etios Liva helps to make them highly efficient vehicles. The diesel mills can stunt with its fuel efficiency figures. The petrol too is good.

All the diesel variants have been equipped with an advanced D-4D engine that is based on the common rail fuel injection technology. It has the ability to produce a minimum mileage of 20.32 Kmpl on city roads while giving away a maximum of 23.59 Kmpl on expressways, which is quite good. While the petrol variants are equipped with a 1.2-litre engine, which is integrated with an electronic fuel injection system. This motor can generate a mileage in the range of 15.1 to 17.71 Kmpl.

Toyota Etios Liva is available in both petrol and diesel models. The petrol variant is available in two versions i.e. 1.2 Ltr and 1.5 Ltr. engine. The 1.2 Ltr. petrol variants are certified by ARAI to give a mileage of 17.71 Kmpl and the 1.5 Ltr variant gives ARAI certified output of 16.78 Kmpl. The diesel variant is equipped with a 1364 CC engine and it gives ARAI certified mileage of 23.59 Kmpl. In real world conditions, you can expect the petrol variant to give 12-13 Kmpl and diesel variant to give 16-17 Kmpl on city roads.
