Both the cars have a different styling approach but still both of them are very good looking in their own way. Talking about dimensions, Etios Liva is lengthier than while Ignis is taller but both cars have almost same width. Ignis is around 100 kg light in weight compared to Liva which helps it to achieve better fuel efficiency.
Petrol models of both cars are powered by 1.2 liter engine but engine of Ignis develops 82 bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of torque compared to 79 bhp and 104 bhp of Etios Liva respectively. The ARAI certified mileage of Ignis is 20.89 kmpl while of Liva is 18.16 kmpl.
Talking about the diesel models, Liva is powered by bigger1.4 liter diesel turbocharged diesel engine that develops peak power of 67 bhp and 170 Nm of torque but in spite of smaller displacement the 1.3 liter turbocharger engine of Ignis develops better peak power of 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. And in diesel version also the 26.8 kmpl certified mileage of Ignis is better than Liva’s 23.59 kmpl.
Both the cars are almost even matched when it comes to offering interior quality, space and feature list. On the safety front, both cars come standard with ABS, EBD, seat belt warning and 2 airbags for driver & co-driver. The cost of the variants of Ignis is less than the equivalent variants of Etios Liva, making it a more value for money proposition. After sales Maintenance is where Ignis again scores against Liva because of the wider MS network and less cost spares.
Finally, in my opinion Suzuki Ignis would be a better choice here due to its better performance, fuel efficiency and value for money.
