If you consider the onroad price of both, Fortuner costs minimum 5 Lakhs higher than XUV 500. Still there is element of competition among the two. Mahindra XUV 500 offers superb features that makes it take on any luxury SUV. Toyota Fortuner has advvantages in all parameters such as higher power, larger interior space, comfort features, safety features and the reputation of Toyota for high reliablity. However the cost is also higher. As almost similar performance is offered from XUV 500, people give first prefrence to XUV 500 and if budget rage is much higher then they go for Fortuner.

Obviously I will go for Mahindra XUV 500, the reason behind that is the cost which is the primary parameter. Fortuner is almost 5 lakhs more than the XUV 500. If XUV is offering similar features at the same price tag then why one would go for the costlier version. Fortuner is having a bigger engine, more muscular look and everything bigger starting from the engine and up to the features. But also XUV offer similar specifications at the quite lower price of 5 lakhs which is way ahead than the Fortuner in costing.

I am not agreeing with my dear friends answer above, we cannot compare a XUV with Toyota Fortuner at all. Both are completely different than each other. Toyota is such luxurious than Mahindra XUV. Fortuner is an exceptional SUV and almost one of the market leaders in the segment. It is having a great muscular body with great engine and way ahead in comfort and safety features. The two vehicles can never be compared with each other at all.

I disagree with both of the above reviews; Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra XUV both are the flagship machines of their own brand names in the SUV segment. Obviously XUV 500 is a great machine but it is for those peoples who are looking for luxury with less cost and Fortuner is the machine for the peoples who don’t mind spending more on fuel cost and having no problems with the high cost of ownership. So it is basically dependent on the spending ability.
