Toyota Rush Expected Preview

The compact SUV segment in India has flourished over the last couple of years and more and more automakers are prepping to introduce their own entrants in the lucrative segment. Similarly, the Japanese automaker is planning to roll out the Rush compact crossover in the country that is slated to make its commercial debut sometime in late 2016. The Toyota Rush crossover is already available on sale in other international markets and goes by the name Daihatsu Rush in some of the Asian markets. It is offered in both 5- and 7-seat configuration in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Toyota Rush Expected Exterior

This yet to be launched SUV is expected to come with bold new styling with some premium touches and aggressive appearance. As far as the front fascia is concerned, there will be a stylish radiator grille with chrome accents, with the company emblem lying at its centre. It will also come fitted with large headlamps that house projector headlights. The ORVMs will come with integrated side indicator. The rear profile would be enhanced by well designed tail light cluster and the spare wheel to give it a true SUV feel. The protective cladding fitted to the bumper will keep the scratches at bay. Dimensionally this SUV is expected to come with a length of 4420 mm and measures 1745 mm in length, 1740 mm of height along with a ground clearance of 200 mm.

Toyota Rush Expected Interior

Toyota Rush is expected to come with outstanding interior design with a spacious and comfortable cabin. It will be spacious enough for seven passengers with good legroom and headroom. Seats will be comfortable, well-padded and will provide good all round support. The steering and gear knob are expected to be wrapped in leather and the material quality of the plastics, chrome and metal will be good and well put together. The steering mounted controls will add to the convenience factor. Audio quality would be superb and smartphone connectivity will be seamless. The SUV will come with effective air-conditioner which will quickly chill its big cabin. There will be generous amount of boot space which may be expandable on folding down the second and third rows. Toyota Rush will come generously equipped with features such as automatic climate control with rear blower, power windows, multi-function steering wheel, 2-DIN audio system with 6-speakers and USB and bluetooth connectivity, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob are just to name the few.

Toyota Rush Expected Engine & Transmission

In the Indian market, Toyota might equip the Rush crossover with a 1.4-litre diesel engine that currently, serves the Corolla Altis and puts out 67PS of max power and 170Nm of peak torque.

Toyota Rush Expected Mileage

Expect real world fuel efficiency of the petrol engine to be around 14-15 km/l and diesel engine might deliver around 19-20 km/l.

Toyota Rush Expected Braking and Safety

Toyota Rush’s front wheels are expected to get disc brakes, while the rear ones are most likely to be paired with drum brakes. The top variants are expected to be available with safety features like ABS and EBD. This SUV is expected to be incorporated with a number of safety aspects, which give the occupants a stress free driving experience like: airbags (for driver and front passenger), reverse parking sensors, collapsible steering column, ISOFIX, engine immobilizer, child safety lock, 3-point ELRx2 pretensioner etc.

Toyota Rush Expected Performance and Handling

Toyota Rush is expected to have impressive acceleration and linear power delivery. Its competent engine will have plenty of pickup and deliver fantastic urban driveability, as well as nice highway performance. It is expected to reach the 100 kmph mark in 12-13 seconds and the maximum speed should be around 175 kmph. The SUV may also get hydraulic power steering which weighs up correctly and is responsive both at low speeds and high. A high ground clearance means you go over most of the imperfections on our roads without having to slow down much. The suspension setup might include McPherson struts at the front and coil spring at the rear. Suspension is expected to offer great ride on the worst of roads and good stability on highways.

Toyota Rush Expected Competitors

If and when, the Toyota Rush makes its commercial debut in India, the compact crossover will go up against the likes of Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster SUV, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Safari Storme.
