Volkswagen Ameo is a typical Volkswagen car but at an unbelievable price which makes it a great buy. Ameo has the German engineering which is a statement in itself about the quality of the car. The features of Ameo are also galore which further adds to its excellence. It has a good ride comfort and soaks the potholes quite well. It maintains the composure especially while cruising and the size makes it a good drive even in the city traffic.
Ameo has a 1.2ltre petrol engine and a 1.5litre diesel engine option where the former delivers 16kmpl and latter can offer 20kmpl. The diesel variants are yet to be launched but they are on their way. The closest and toughest competitor for Ameo is the Maruti Dzire which is offered with a 1.2litre petrol and 1.3litre diesel engine option delivering 20kmpl and 26kmpl mileage respectively. Another rat in this race is the Honda Amaze which is offered with 1.2litre petrol and 1.5litre diesel variants. The petrol Amaze can deliver 17kmpl while diesel Amaze can manage 25kmpl. Ford Aspire, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent etc. are a few other competitors of Volkswagen Ameo that are worth taking a look at.
However, with Ameo the biggest advantage that you get is that at such a decent price you can enjoy a German build quality and technology. This being said, the biggest drawback of Ameo is definitely its after sales network and after sales cost. Here Maruti Dzire takes the ball away while others fall almost equal to each other in these terms. Volkswagen Ameo definitely will prove to be the most expensive car to maintain amongst these, but nonetheless, it definitely creaks of German quality and deserves an applause in terms of its performance, pricing and overall feel.
