The hatchback segment is one of the most competitive in the Indian market. This is for two reasons, one is hatchbacks are less pricey than the sedans and secondly they are highly fuel-efficient. There are a lot of cars that can match Volkswagen Polo feature for feature like the Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Nissan Micra, Chevrolet Sail hatchback etc. we are also awaiting the arrival of two more cars like the all new Fiat Punto Evo and Tata Bolt to give tough competition to the existing players.
As hatchbacks are one of the fiercest automobile segments in terms of competition, Volkswagen Polo too has its share of rivals in the form of Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Wagon R, Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Sail, Nissan Micra, Fiat Punto Evo and Tata Bolt. Out of these, in terms of proficiency of engine and fuel economy, the hatchbacks from Hyundai – i20 and Grand i10 score over the others. Though, the German background of Volkswagen keeps it in the race too, preferably in the front row of marquees.
Volkswagon Polo is a mid-priced hatchback, it owns a powerful 1496 cc engine along with other classy features. It has got a facelift with minor exterior and interior design upgrades. Indian automobile industry is flooded with similar priced hatchbacks, some of the popular cars include Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Wagon R, Honda Brio, Tata bolt and chevrolet sail. Among these Hyundai i20 elite is its closest rival with a major difference in external styling.
