I am unable to understand why the doors of my Volkswagen Polo can still be unlocked from inside even after locking; it is not safe for children?

You might be locking your Volkswagen without activating the SafeLock mechanism, hence they can still be opened even after locking. The SafeLock mechanism deactivates the door opening levers if the car has been locked. This makes it more difficult to break into the vehicle and the doors can no longer be opened from the inside too. SafeLock mechanism can be activated by pressing the lock button on the vehicle key once. Depending on the vehicle equipment level, when the ignition is switched off, the instrument cluster display may inform you about the activated SafeLock mechanism.
