My 1997 Polo starts and dies immediately after 2 minutes, what is the solution?

There are many reasons why a car engine dies immediately after start. The most common ones are:
• For an engine to start properly it needs a precise combination of fuel and air. This balance may be disturbed due to a clogged air filter.
• Dead or nearly dead car battery.
• Bad or Loose Spark Plugs
• The car may have a bad ignition switch that will need to be replaced in order for your car to start properly.
I advise you to take your car to your local Volkswagen service center or to some skilled mechanic for through inspection and solution.
