Volvo S60 Facelift Preview

Volvo has taken the wraps off from the upcoming Volvo S60 sedan vehicle. The sedan will feature double wishbone suspension in the front and an integral axle present in the rear end. The upcoming Volvo S60 2019 will be offered with alternatives of four petrol engines, which will include two plug-in hybrids as well. This will be the commitment of Volvo to provide electric versions of each of its new model from 2019 onwards. This is the first time that the brand will not offer any diesel engine in this model. The plug-in hybrid engine in the sedan will introduce the Volvo’s supercharged 2.0-litre T8 Twin Engine, which is capable enough to generate combined power of 390 bhp. In this case, the petrol engine, which drives the front wheels, will deliver around 303 bhp of power and a peak torque of 640 Nm, and the 65 kW electric unit will empower the rear axle. The Volvo S60 will cruise from a standstill to 100 kmph within a matter of 4.9 secs making its way to a max speed of 250 kmph.
The base variant T5 petrol turbocharged engine will be capable enough to generate a peak power of 250 bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm, which will be driven on the front wheels. The car will be able to cruise from a standstill to 100 kmph within a matter of 6.5 secs of time. The T6 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid will also be offered with a ‘Polestar Engineered’ performance upgradation. This will include revamped wheels, brakes, suspension and a slightly modified engine ECU pushing the combined power up to 340 bhp and peak torque of 670 Nm. This engine will be 0.2 secs faster than the entry-level variants while cruising from a standstill to 100 kmph. There will also be a T6 turbo and supercharged unit with a max power of 310 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. Every engine option will send power to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. As far as the mileage of the S60 is concerned, it will deliver up to 19 kmpl in the city boulevards and on the highways. The sedan will get a vertically positioned infotainment touchscreen system running on Volvo’s Sensus technology. This system will be equipped with 4G and duly support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The upcoming Volvo S60 features in terms of safety will include optional Pilot Assist system, City Safety autonomous braking ability, Run-Off-Road protection and mitigation, a road sign information technology, lane keeping aid, cross traffic alert coupled with brake support, and rear collision warning. The upcoming 2019 Volvo S60 will be rivalling against its German rivals such as Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series.
