How does the V40 fair against Mercedes Benz A Class in engine performance?

The Volvo V40 D3 R-design has a 5-cylinder, 1984cc powerhouse capable of producing 150bhp and 350Nm which is more when compared to the bigger 2143cc, 4-cylinder engine of Mercedes Benz A200CDI producing 136bhp power and 300Nm of torque. Volvo is quick off the mark as it touches the 100kmph in 9.3 seconds and Benz takes 10.6 seconds but the German goes way up to 210kmph as compared to 200kmph by Swede. Mileage-wise also V40 takes up as it runs 21.5kmpl while the A200 runs 18.75kmpl.
