Volvo’s most affordable SUV so far in the country, XC40, broke covers earlier in July 2018 with a single R-Design variant. Unmistakably Volvo, the new XC40 is designed in tandem with other models from the Scandavaian car giant and has been crafted to offer an opulent experience to the occupants. Under the hood, the 2018 Volvo XC40 gets a 2.0-litre engine paired to an auto box. A well-rounded package, the new Volvo XC40 price in India is competitive, which poses it well against the rivals in the segment.

Launched in a single variant initially, the Volvo XC40 received two more grades, and can be had in R-Design, Momentum and Inscription trims. The plush Volvo XC40 exterior gets a mesh grille finished in black with a hint of chrome on the Volvo logo. Headlamps at each end feature Thor’s hammer LED daytime running lights. The black roof with blackened A-pillars is offered across all colour options.

The luxe 2018 Volvo XC40 interior brims with comfort and connectivity features. That said, the panoramic sunroof is available even with the base Momentum variant. In addition, Volvo XC40 features an ASD system, front radar, 9-inch centre touchscreen and leather upholstery, which are also standard across variants. While other bits such as a 3-spoke steering wheel with leather stitching, wireless phone charging, 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, etc., are offered with the higher variants.

All three variants in the XC40 line-up derive power from the same diesel engine. The engine is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder D4 unit, which emanates maximum power of 187bhp against 400Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The most affordable and smallest SUV from Volvo India comes well equipped with safety and security features.
