1290 SuperDuke based touring motorcycle spied in Italy

KTM 1290 SuperDuke blew us away when the beast was unleashed few years back. It is known for its outrageous power delivery and super impressive power to weight ratio. SuperDuke is said to be one of the craziest naked motorcycles ever made, being capable enough of doing 0-200km/hr run in about 7seconds. A touring motorcycle based on the SuperDuke 1290 has been spotted in Italy, it has been named as KTM 1290 SM-T. From the images, the motorcycle looks production ready and it will be safe to assume that KTM might showcase the same in the 2015 EICMA Show in Milan this November.
The 1290 SM-T utilizes the same chrome-molybdenum steel tubular space frame but being a tourer its rear will be strength up a little to support the payload. Being a tourer, its suspension setup will be adjusted accordingly to complement the motorcycles touring abilities. The handle bar has been raised for comfortable cruising on highways and also the seats have been redesigned for enhanced comfort. Now talking about the mechanicals, being based on the SuperDuke 1290, SM-T will utilize the detuned engine from the SuperDuke. This engine produced thrashing 180bhp of power and 143Nm of torque and the same will be slightly detuned to fit in a form of touring motorcycle’s engine.
